Dream big

Harrison and I love to dream big! We have all sorts of ideas for the dream home that we hope to one day build. On this page, I'll post pictures of our styles.

We're predominately drawn to homes in the Bungalow/Arts & Crafts style, but we also love the architecture of Dutch Colonial and Federal.

Below is a lovely Federal-style home in Asheville:
This is a Dutch Colonial in the Montford District in Asheville:

Here's a great Dutch Colonial:

I love the slate roof shingles, the gabled roof, the dormer windows, and the dendrils (the little details at the base of the roofline/under the gutters).
Here are some bungalow living areas:

We enjoy the Mission-style furniture that goes along with the Arts and Crafts style.

We like wainscoting, bead-board, built-ins, dark wood toned furniture (primarily mahogany), medium-tone hardwood flooring, coffered ceilings, crown moulding (with picture rails), and many other features in this style.

Here's an example of a coffered ceiling:

Colonnades (room separator with storage/book shelves/cabinets) add extra character:

Here are some neat Arts & Crafts kitchens:

 We like leather sofas:
For a formal living room someday, we like Chesterfield sofas/wing backs, etc:

We love Mica copper lamps and the traditional Arts & Crafts lanterns:
I love this exterior door...
and these bathrooms...

and this foyer...

Mud rooms are functional and cute. I'd consider combining it with a laundry room, and possibly making a craft space also:

Harrison dreams about having a split-rail fence:
Here our some Craftsman style house plans that we found online. They're not 100% what we have in mind, but with some tweaking and our own personal touches, they may be just right.
