Nate's Birthday and The Mayo Wedding

On Saturday, we met up with my family to celebrate Nate's birthday. It's so nice to be just 1-2 hours away from everyone. We are going to be able to get together more often now. Dad is retiring on October 26 (my birthday), and I couldn't be happier for him! My parents will have time to focus on their hobbies (gardening, golfing, and such) and be able to road trip often to visit all of us.
Isn't Paige the cutest? She loves to drink from her momma's straw!
After our lunch at Mellow Mushroom in Vinings, we went back to Nate's home. Harrison and I had to get ready for Jenna and Kyle's wedding, and we had to head out before they cut the cake. It looked amazing though! Kellye made him a chocolate chip cheesecake (OMG)!

The wedding was at Peachtree Presbyterian and was lovely. Jenna looked A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The reception was in Midtown, at the Wimbush House (where the Atlanta Women's Club meets). It was a great venue! Wasn't her cake gorgeous?
The groom's cake was awesome... an edible Jordan Hare Stadium complete with their engagement portrait on the scoreboard.

I love this picture!

Jenna's Bachelorette Party

Last Saturday, I went to Atlanta for my sorority sister's Bachelorette Party. It's been a long time since I've seen Jenna and my other Alpha Chi sisters, and we had a great reunion! We met for lunch at The Tree house Restaurant and then got ready back at the guest suite that was rented for us in Jenna's apartment building, The Bennington. We all dressed up in black so that the 'bride-to-be' would stand out. She looked fabulous in her purple dress.
She opened some fun gifts at her lingerie shower, and then we all headed out for dinner at at a cool restaurant called Tantra.

After dinner, we came back to the suite for a champagne toast and dessert, and then it was time to paint the town red. We went to a cute Irish pub first, called Fado'. After a few hours of dancing there, we went across the street to The Red Door.
It was a great night, and I can't wait to hang out with everyone again next week at the wedding!

Alabama residents... home for good

Well, we've been Alabama residents now for over a week. We're slowly getting unpacked and settled in. Harrison had to start school (new teacher orientation) the day after we moved, so he has more unpacking left to do than I have (not to mention needing to set up his classroom). I decided not to start my new job for two weeks so that I could have time to deal with all of the things that have to do with moving. I've done a pretty good job getting established in Auburn:
Nearly unpacked
Got a driver's license (after waiting for 2.5 hours at the DMV)
Got my car tag
Switched over my insurance from NC to AL
Voter's registration
Church membership
Switched the power and water into our names
Got TV and internet hooked up
Joined a gym (and started going to it)
Got temporary health insurance (until my work insurance kicks in after the three month probationary period)

This past weekend I drove to Aileen's (only 1 hour away now) and met up with her, my nephews, Kellye & Paige, and our friend Liz, and her daughter. We had a great time playing with the kids and hanging out at the neighborhood pool. Paige is getting so big (she's almost nine months old, 17 pounds) and she's really developing an adorable personality. Her eyes are big and blue and she has the cutest squeals! My nephews continue to amaze me with their curiosity.

After our fun day in Newnan, I headed to Gadsden for the weekend to see my parents and go to Katharine's wedding. Katharine and I have been good friends for a long time. She actually caught my bouquet! The wedding was very sweet and the flowers were lovely. Congratulations, Brad and Katharine! I didn't have my camera on me, but I copied this picture off of facebook that someone tagged her in. Aren't they a good looking couple?

On Sunday, I went to Mass with Mom and Dad and then we had brunch at the club. It's nice to know that they're only two hours away from me now, opposed to five.
